The Horror, Blower motor has gone south
Oh wo was I.
I had a TPMS come on and sure enough, a flat tire ensued. BUT when I go to to reset the "TPMS", I end up fiddling and turn off the "SMART " monitoring as well. Took me two days to figure why my ignition key and door locks quit working. Lousy owners manual...
Now I have a blower motor squealing and giving me fits. Part #87103-50090 and Lexus wants $839.23 plus tax and labor!!!
I can't seem to find a Denso or another replacement in the range of $100 or so. Anyone actually replaced one. You tube showed a guy but on a ES.

https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/...103-50090.html $466.
Have you looked at the current one to see why it's squealing? Make sure a critter didn't get in there. Could also try some lubricant on it maybe and see if that helps before you replace it.

If I were you, I'd play with the speeds and temperatures and randomly change them and the source like face, feet, defrost, etc.
If it gets to the point where you are going to replace it, I would 100% search around online, as Romanova linked, find the best price for a genuine Toy/Lex motor and give it to whomever/shop that does the repair. I would also request the OLD motor back.
Good luck, keep us informed!

Yup, When I begin to hear it growl, sequel or whatever, I turn off the fan and turn it back on a number of times and it usually will be quiet. But, I can't help but think this is a short term fix.
Its going to be a junkyard replacement for $65 with a 30 day warranty. Trying to find one at least from a 04. So far 03 with 130,000 some miles on it already. Beats $446 and up.
Still can't shake that smart key thing. Who would of thunk.

dunno if $371.05 is any better, just shy of a hundred bucks ($94.95) less than $466. This place does collect sales tax for all 50 states I found....

There was a recent thread on this board about repair of a radiator fan motor - and an excellent post describing how to replace the brushes in the motor for like $ 7. that same procedure could possibly be used here. When you pull the old blower motor out you might be able to take it apart and replace worn brushes and get it working again for a few bucks and save even more.

It's well worth pulling the motor out, opening the case and blowing it out. You'll be surprised at how much debris is in there...

Check that filter
We did full time in our RV for years. No garage ever, and lots of critters running around.
The critters like voles, field mice, etc, can get in to your HVAC system and really raise heck. Have a look at that filter. For my 4runner I found lots and lots of cherry pits, and a mouse nest. Once I got all that crud out and installed a new filter, all was well. They like the taste of wiring harness' too, that can get very expensive.

I feel like a detective. Somethings funny here.
So Lexus says the part # to replace my blower motor and squirrel cage is $466.
BUT,
The Lexus sites shows a sub blower replacement w/o the cage for $160
and the cage looks to be $16.41
What am I missing here? Lexus screw up. WTD?

I think Kos hit the nail on the head. Part numbers never die, they just get superseded.
If it is not a horrendous job to get the motor out I would be thinking brushes. Google is your friend, well that and a pair of calipers to measure the brushes. Motor brushes are fairly 'generic' wrong word, right concept. The correct size can often be found for a few dollars.
I had an autopilot system on my fish boat that needed brushes about every two years. The motor was 500 bucks, the brushes were 5 bucks. Actually under 10 for the pair, just having a little fun with numbers. Of course the autopilot supplier only sold new motors and claimed the brushes were not available. Hmmm, how did they get there in the first place?
If it's a major take out the dashboard task I would bite the bullet for a new motor. Even if I am the one taking the dash out. In fact especially then!
Hope this helps, regardless keep the labor to get it in and out in mind when finding a fix.
