drivers seat pad question - custom pad
If I replace the OEM seat pad with a custom pad from a local upholstery shop, what about the hog rings that secure the pad to the leather seat? Can the new pad be fitted and installed without hog rings? Has anyone done this?

If you go to a local upholstery shop I had them just put a new pad over the existing pad which added another inch or so of cushion and actually took all the wrinkles out of the leather which looked much better. But to get to everything they did remove the hog rings but seemed pretty easy for the guy to do.

Usually the upholstery shops have foam padding laying around so they just cut an inch of padding to go onto of the seat cushion. My original seat cushion wasn't in to bad of shape. The whole charge was maybe like 100.00 so wasnt expensive. But it will make the seat more comfy. As for the heating and cooling, they never really worked that well but they do still work. If you need more cushion in the back you can take the seat cover off the back and just add you a layer of foam there as well. I just added some foam in front of the lumbar which helped pushed the seat cushion out a bit.
