I've had a 2004 ls430 for about 6 months with pretty high miles. I had an intermittent issue where only in the first of the morning, when first pulling out of the driveway, the transmission would slip until about 3-4k rpm. Then would work the rest of the day or two. I've ask around in a few different forums and got a lot of great feedback. Some of course said it was a dying trans, some said it was mass airflow sensor, bad oil, or maybe even the computer.
Well the battery was on 3 years so it was pretty much dead. Needed to jump the car once or twice a week. I got a new one and magically the transmission works perfect!
I hope this adds to anyone's troubleshooting list when having tranny problems.
