the battery has died on my 2006 ls430 and i am unable to open it, because i dont have the original door key. i had a key fob reprogrammed from another ls430. is there a trick to get power to the battery so i can open it with my key fob or a trick to open the hood while its closed. any suggestions without having to spend money on getting a key made at the dealer? thanks
No, the starter is under the intake manifold and the wiring is not accessible from underneath. If you take your title to the dealer they will cut you a new door key.
Do you have AAA? They can help if you lock yourself out. Same scenario except the battery does not work, right? Unless maybe am missing something here.
If you are not member of AAA, I have seen local service who can open car door when you are locked out.
You can access the positive battery cable at the alternator from beneath the car. Just be very careful not to short the positive to ground.
i wanted to thank everyone for their advice and suggestions. i was able to get the car opened using a battery charger on the alternator positive wire from below the car. instantly the alarm went off,but i was able to shut it off by pressing the keyfob unlock button constantly. this way i was able to get inside and pop the hood to charge the battery. i only had to remove a few clips and screws from the front passengers side of the bumper cover splash shield. Hope this helps anyone else in the future. Thanks!
