Default Keeping the '01

After 8 or 9 months of searching for an '05 or '06 and researching candidates on Lexus Driver and several onsite inspections, I have decided to invest in the existing '01 instead.

While I do not have BT or a backup camera (which could be accomplished with a DD head unit), for a few thousand to address the suspension and a couple of cosmetic items it came down to dealing with a known entity versus taking on a new to me vehicle. Wheels and tires are a bit farther out....

The range in CA for an '05/'06 is $10.5 to $15K with 100-120K miles and some do not have the TB or WP addressed. Exteriors for the most part are decent (but some worse than mine) and the interiors were beat up more than expected.

I’ve gone through the same ordeal for the last few years and haven’t been able to find an 05-06 as original, clean, and as well cared for as my trusty 01. The biggest plus here is that I know what I have done for the last 9 years and there shouldn’t be any great surprises. Can’t say that with the next car. So many rags out there. I’m fine with my old timer.

Add in a double din carplay unit. I did with mine and it was a great addition to have all the latest tech in my 02. Also added in the backup camera.

If you wait they will pop up. I went to look at one with my friend couple of months ago. 05 black/black UL 122k miles. Picked it up for 7500. In socal. Blown air shocks. No TB serviced but isn't an issue since he can do the work himself.

Dont worry, one will pop up as soon as you stop lookin lol. There really isn't much on the 04-06 Models that would make me want to get rid of my 02 for.

since i inherited my wife old LS430, i thought about getting rid of it for a more fuel economical car. but then i really like the room and comfort. plus since we have owned it for 7 years, i knew what it's issues were & that was important.....did i really want to take on someone else's problems. so i'm slowly fixing the things that are wrong. and it hasn't been that bad since i am doing some if it myself. just can't get this trunk issue figured out for the life of me, lol.

Appreciate the feedback and reading that others have similar experience.

Agree that now that I have "suspended" my search several will now pop up.....

Luckily I have 2 very good independent shops to address any mechanical maintenance items and it surely will be a lesser investment than the delta of $7-8K or more that would involve acquiring a newer year....

Thanks for the words of encouragement.....
