Default Removing an engine

I know it's a long shot but has anyone on here removed an engine? The service manual says it needs to be removed with the transmission as a unit. I was curious if just the engine can be removed without the transmission. I can handle the engine but both together is a little beyond my comfort level with my work space. I also need to replace the transmission on my other car but I'm sure that can be done without removing the engine with it.

It is extremely difficult, but can be done. You have to have a shop, and an advanced shop at that. In 99% of the cases both units come out as one. Sorry hoss.

Think it's time to bring some beer and a buddy or two.

I'd sooner drop the whole lot out the bottom. A hoist and a sturdy, yet movable workbench is your friend
