What is it worth?
Dealer has an 04 with 120K for 9K. Sitting quite a while. White and Tan.
I have an 11 GS350 already and I put in the VIN on the Lexus site, good records, belt and WP changed.
No nav, I guess a base model?

What's it worth?....I guess whatever someone is willing to pay for it!
You should reference all the used car websites to get an idea of what owners are selling them for, average them up.....take into consideration the zipcode, carfax, documented service, appearance, etc, etc, etc, then offer $1,500 lower and go from there. That's how I shop a used car. Back to the "what's it worth" question.......not trying to come off as a wiseguy, but that 2004 could be worth more to someone who's looking for that year, those colors, those features, etc, etc, and less to someone who wants a 2006, so it's not quite so black and white an issue. Hope this helps somewhat
Was confused even after reading your post 2x. I've since assumed that you own the 2011, but you put the 2004's VIN into the Lexus site, showing it's belt + WP has been done. Whew! Now that's done (I think accurately), the non-nav model is what's called the Premium. It is the base model.

Yes, I meant I have the 11 GS, and I added the 04 to the Lexus site to see the history. Looks like it was well cared for between NY and FL Lexus places. Never had plugs, but I would take care of that ASAP. 9K seems around the KBB dealer price, but just wanted to get a feeler if that sounds right.
Had both 02 sensors and front wheel bearings replaced, and some problems with the parking brake. Other than that on time maintenance, car was sitting for about a year.
That's a bit high for that miles, but hen I'm used do TX pricing. Dealers will always be higher than individuals.
Check the car sites to make sure he's in the ball park, If it's been there a bit he might be willing to work with you on the price if you're serious.

Looks like it has a bit of wear and tear on the seats (seems all light Lexuses do, that is why I got a black GS interior). Exterior is very nice. Seems a bit high for a vehicle that age though(15 model years), and a base model, but I guess they hold value. From other sellers seems the price is fair (not a bargain) within 1000$ or so. A BMW or BENZ at that age is worth almost nothing to me because of the work it will need. I would compare it though to a Loaded Town Car, owned many Panthers. I like that it has more safety features, but the ride and reliability is comparable.

The way I would look at if the car will keep the value is take a look at the models before. In this case say an '01 - '03. Those cars with around 140k+ miles are in the $5k-$6k range. In my opinion, the '04 -'06 will be about the same in the next couple years since the newly redesigned next gen LS is about to out. Again, just my opinion and honestly I hope I'm wrong and the values stay up.
That being said, as someone mentioned, it's worth what you're willing to pay. If you're looking for that gen LS and it's a maintained, desired color combo you want, and the price fits in your budget, then get it. Will you have to do some maintenance stuff, more than likely but if you can DIY you'll probably still make out well enough even with depreciation.
I wouldn't go so far as saying these cars hold their value. I've already seen a drop in the price a bit within the last year. Less than a year ago I paid $10.5k for a 110 mile '05 in a not so desirable color but a one owner with good service records. I now have 122k miles and from what I've seen I would be lucky to get $9k and more realistically closer to the $8k range. For whatever reason the '04 seem to be a little cheaper than '05 -'06 even though they are really the same cars.

Everything depreciates. Guys here buying brand new LS and GS and they lose thousands on the way home. Just bring it back a week later and see what they offer you. In a year they lost what I'm going to pay for the LS.
There is always the bus, and even that cost $1000/yr
The car I'm looking at is on Google maps 1 yr ago, so the dealer may let it go for much less, and that will make a dent in the prices. He could sell the BMW next to it and be on the hook for a 3K warranty job. I think people are scared of a Luxury car at that age, they can buy the Camry or Avalon for 1/2 that and they know it is is reasonably reliable.
