I am pretty sure its against federal regulations to sell used cat converters.

I had a P0420 and theis is what the catalytic converter looked like. It was an OK job for a home mechanic. The cats were cheap 2 for under $300 but the gaskets were $100 or so. I eneeded
I ended up replacing two cats on my car. I had the P0420 code. The other cat was good and I sold it on Ebay for $130 or something like that. The bolts were easy enough but one the tip broke off but I didn't have any issues with leaks. I spent $100 on factory gaskets bought on Ebay. It was an easy enough job only a few bolts. The codes have not come back and after replacement the CEL light went off after a little driving.

Instead of buying the factory gaskets use this

I used it for my header install and it works awsome.

I am going to stress this to everyone do not sell or purchase used catlytic converters it is against federal law and the EPA will come after you and can fine you up to $20,000. .

Default selling cats

Sorry what I meant to say is I sold some scrap metal that looked like a cat and bolted into place like a cat but was only scrap metal as far as I know.

as far as I know the scrap metal would bolt into place and work like a cat and clean the exhaust of a ls 430

If it's illegal to have a used cat, then I'm sure mine is new. How it came to be $550 including parts and labor for a new OEM cat when all the ones that I saw are around $1000 for just the cat alone... idk.
