Sooo, my pops bought a. 02 ls430 yesterday I went to the dealer to pick it up with him. We got home around 7 pm parked it and he went to move it today and the car seems to be in some sort of limp mode. Seems like tranny failure or something like that. Makes weird noise when going from drive to reverse. Anyone experience this.

Ouch. Take it back to the dealer asap and tell them to fix it or provide money back.

Agreed. It doesn't appear that there is a "Right to cancel" law in Iowa regarding used car purchases, but get to the dealership post haste!

Tell him to check his paperwork to see if they included any specific warranty - such as on the drivetrain - for a certain period.

The dealer is a business so they have a vested interest in satisfied customers. They should be able to work it out, doesn't sound like they vetted the car properly. You buy from dealers to prevent this type of thing happening since its a very real possibility from a private curb side sale.
