Default Another LS bites the dust

My 05 base is a victim of rains related to Hurricane Harvey. The water reached mid door level and the parking lights came on by themselves during the ordeal as the electrical system died. It took me nearly a year to find this car and I had it only a year. The base black on black combo in 05 and 06 was very hard to get in my area.

I will probably go with another 05 or 06 in this color combo in either base or Custom Luxury trim at some point.

Once things calm down I will settle with the insurance company and might post it in the classifieds as a parts car for the buy back value. I hate for it to just get junked, sit in a yard, and get crushed with so many good parts. The body, engine, lights, transmission, wheels, suspension, etc....plus a ton of other stuff was excellent.

Sorry to hear this, but I'm sure there will be many more stories like this. I feel for you guys down there. Stuff can be replaced, as they say, but it is a big pain in the rear to deal with...

Sorry to hear that man. I'm grateful that SA dodged that storm and we didn't have that destruction. Got alot of friends in family down in Houston though, I plan on going down there soon to help with the recovery. The important thing is that you are safe, cars can always get replaced. I'm sure a good replacement will come up, I would look nationwide when you do search and you can probably find nice examples. The best ones I've found were from Cali and Florida, mine was a 1 owner car from Malibu.

Very sorry to hear about the loss. Wishing you the best of luck going forward and hoping you will find an amazing super clean LS430 to replace the great one that you lost. As others have posted it is critical to remember that the important things in life are not things at all. 99.9% of stuff can always be replaced. Happy to hear you are safe and sound.

As many are saying, sorry about the natural disaster, and at least no harm came to you and family.

if you don't mind, I need the passenger side mirror glass assembly.

Sorry to hear about this. I'm sure the amount of rain caught you by surprise down there otherwise you would have driven it to higher ground. Did you suffer any other damage as well (house, etc.)?

How many miles were on your car?

Sorry to hear about losing your LS AND your SC...... But, cars can be replaced and rebuilt and as long as you and your family are safe and unharmed the other stuff can be replaced....

Now you get to document your future searches and builds to get back your Lexus fleet..... (no pun intended for the reference to boats....)

The car had 153K miles....I put about 15K of those on it.

Flood waters came up rapidly....it rained like crazy for 5 straight hours. I have lived in this house for 20 years and never came close to flooding. This time I got 18 inches of water inside the house. To go back to pre-flood condition will take 2-3 months more. However, it will be habitable (no cabinets or interior doors) in about 2 more weeks. The photo is of the morning after when the water just sat (36+ hours sitting). If you look in the garage across the street the neighbor has a 2 month old AMG Mercedes Benz he lost. His Escalade managed to stay dry. That guy has $150K+ of cars in his garage and I play with 10-25 year old practically worthless cars; I am clearly doing something wrong...lol.

The search for an 05 or 06 black on black LS goes on.

Yeah, sad to see but to put things in perspective seems like there are so many tragic events happening lately, one can be thankful for their health and family. It does stink as we all wish we could get everything just where we want it.

I hear the what did I do wrong thing, one of my HS buddys has a 6 mil. house, goes to NFL owners' parties, other friends are C level execs, and I think we grew up together and played basketball, tennis, skiied, hung when we didn't have dates, did college tours together and even went to the same colleges. How did they know say by 35 they'd be captains of industries to borrow Tony Sopranos words...but does my buddy have a 2006 LS430? No, he does not! He has a 2006 A8 that he bought used! Timing and fate, and hard work....

p.s. just thought of something--my kitty corner neighbor is a jerk with a Porsche, a Mini, an Infiniti, another Porsche, and I notice he has a '88 BMW 6. But he's a jerk and I'm not like him. Oh, he also has an Emmy Award. Guess I am blessed!
