2003 - Master Warning Light Issues
Hopefully I can explain this without causing too much confusion.
About 3 weeks ago I noticed the master warning light start coming on about 2 minutes into my drive to work. It would ding, show the warning light and then go off after 10 seconds or so. It started happening more as time went on and would come on about 4 times total on my 20 mile drive. I started checking the forums here, and google to try and figure what was going on.
I am kind of embarrassed to say this, but I never realized that this car had the information display under the RPM gauge. I didn't realize until troubleshooting this issue, that I was supposed to have a display there. It has never worked since I have been the owner of the car. I have tried multiple things to get the display to work including checking all related fuses.
So since i have no display I started checking multiple things that have been mentioned such as checking washer fluid, mileage reset, etc. I had checked the oil a few weeks ago, and apparently I did not check well enough because one side of the stick showed full, but apparently the side i was supposed to be looking at was at the minimum fill line. I was at my brother in laws house Sunday when we checked again, so I went and got some Mobil 1 synthetic which i use when I change the oil out. Once we got it filled up the Warning light no longer came on, so I thought issue had been resolved. Last night when leaving work I started up the car and i hear the ding. The warning light goes off after about 10 seconds, but then does not come back on the remainder of my way home. Same thing today on way to work and back. I am at a total loss here as to what could be happening to cause this, and any advice would be much appreciated.
In a way I am kind of still dealing with 2 issues here. Why the light may actually be coming on, and also what would be causing my display portion of the cluster not to work properly.
