Default Sport Sway Bar FOUND (Updated)

Hey everyone I was going to let you all know that I have been searching to the Sports Rear Sway Bar for a while now and was having trouble sourcing it for cheap. I found a Lexus parts website that has them as cheap as I have found them.

https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts-...html?PNC=48812

I always upgrade the rear bar in every car I own even if just with PU bushings to tighten up the handling. I love my new 2001 Black on Black UL. I'll give you all an update once I get it installed.

Pictures aren't great but here she is. Powder coated LS460 wheels.

Would you recommend replacing the bushing with this part as well?

Thanks

Sport Stabilizer bar bushings are a different size than the standard size bar, so yes, you'll need to replace the bushings. Probably a good idea anyway..

I did the swap back in 2006 when we purchased the LS, the bars are just slightly larger dia (matching bushings are needed) and they really do help the understeer / push with the stock suspension. The remainder of the LS 430 sport suspension uses springs / shocks that were sold in other markets as the "rough road" option.

I am very impressed with the outcome. Its a subtle difference but it definitely made my car handle better. I can keep it in comfort now and it handles better than sport mode before the bar. The links are a bit of a pain to deal with and I should have probably replace them. Moving forward I would recommend anyone that does this job go ahead and replace the links.

For 160-180 bucks getting the sport bar was well worth the price.

Recommends on a good source for the PU bushings? Any other easy to replace bushings/suspension/steering parts to improve handling? I have the Sport version. Next step is probably Michelin Pilots. They are supposed to be a good blend of performance and comfort. However, tire suggests appreciated.

I put Yokohama AVID EnVigors (245/45/W18) on my 06 last week. It has Sport Suspension and 18" wheels. When I bought the car about a month ago it had 2 Bridgestones, 1 Yokohama, and 1 cheap Chinese tire. The new Yokohamas completely transformed the ride. VERY happy with the purchase AND the local tire shop near my house is having a Yokohama sale. $100 off a set of 4 and a $60 rebate in the mail. I think the Yokohama promotion goes to the end of May...

How does anyone drive around w/ mismatched good/cheap tires? On an LS? Thanks for tire suggest. I'm running Michelin Premiers on 17's (had them sitting around). Quiet but waaaaay too soft. Plan to put better tires on the 18's I've got (worn out Michelins). Am betting even the change from 17 to 18 will help. PU bushings on rear sway sound like an easy upgrade too. Congrats on getting a Sport. Very hard to find.

LOL sometimes wonder if the Sports version gets driven harder? I test drove one. The owner kept talking about how well it handled. Also kept talking about how much he wanted a Porsche I never pushed my 01 Base. Just enjoyed the ride. My Sport? Yeah it gets driven faster.

New to Lexus, but I would like to clean up some of the body roll. You suggest the Sport Sway bar, PU bushings, and links? Can this be done by DIY with access to a lift and a mechanics tools. (my brother is a tech for 30 years).

Thanks,

Rick

If you are asking me, no I do not know the different sizes.

I'm just looking for crisper handling, and I'll give up a little ride quality to achieve that.

Stock is 13mm and sport is 14mm diameter. I changed mine on a 04 UL and I couldn't tell much difference.

I guarantee that mine gets driven harder. I came from a E39 530I with a M Sport suspension and an M5 sway bar in the rear. I miss that car but it was a money pit.
