Question-upgrading Fog and Daytime Running Lights
The recent foggy weather has had me noticing fog and DRL's. The newer LED lights seem to show up better. I have looked at some older threads and it appears the fog lights are pretty easy but can't find much on DRL's. The stickies are somewhat dated. Has anyone switched te\hem to LED's lately. If so, any suggestions or recommendations are welcome, especially for the DRL's. Thank you.

It's funny how I have been fascinated with LED lights since 2006 or so. Until the LS430, I never owned a car with LED brake lights, and almost don't even care at this point? But I do find some of the newer car designs on the front lights to be very cool--take Volvo for example how the DRLs go off, and there is an entire row/array of yellow LEDs that turn on to signal....I guess we can't really get that on our 3rd gens...funny how there is some DOT reg where the drls must go off if they are x mm from the signals. My BMW seems to violate this reg, as its DRL rings stay on when signaling....also I am pre LED so I have H8 bulbs lighting up my rings...

Maybe its just me but if you "notice" that you need lights to work, i wouldn't rely solely on DRL and would just turn on the normal headlamps..
I was thinking of getting LED's for the High Beams/DRL's but im not entirely sure if they'll work on the lower voltage output to get the high beam halogens to turn into DRL's. Some Googleing of other cars that use the same technique should yield some answers.
Fog Lamp wise i did change mine to 3000K HID's from XenonDepot. They work VERY well, especially compared to the Halogen OEM. Highway and street signs light up so much more in heavy rain now.

I am not ready to give up my high beams yet, so I may just switch the the fog lights. Question to those that have done it. In order to get that bright light, do you need to polish up the fog lamp lens in addition to changing the bulb? The fog lens is looking a bit opaque.

What size bulb is that little bulb that is always on when the car is running? Its at the top of the high beam housing and it points down. I'd like to replace it with an LED as it is more orange-ish and I'd like a bright white LED light.

I'm fine with my factory Halogen headlamps but also wouldn't mind changing my fog lamp bulbs which I always use when I have my headlights on. Is a kit absolutely required to make the bulb brighter? If so, not interested. Is there a bulb I can change it to that would not require any rewiring, and stay with the current voltage? I don't want to put a strain on the system.
