Default 01 LS430 driver seat won't go up or down

Any one know which motor operates the up/down on the driver side front seat or anything else to look at? All forward/back and recline work. Any ideas appreciated.

Your "Lifter" motor is either unplugged, or burnt out.

Thx for the diagram....I removed the seat and can't find any loose connections but do have more info. So in addtion to not going up or down the seat cushion does not go forward or back as well. The entire seat does go forward and back and the back does recline. Also I noticed my seat memory buttons do not work. Could these items all be on a fuse or relay? Or could I have 2 bad motors? or any other thoughts.

I have a bit of bad news for you... All 5 motors are power via a 30A fuse called "D P/SEAT". Since some of your motors are operational, we can rule out a blown fuse.

You can easily test for a bad motor with a 9V battery. Simply unplug the motor and apply 9V across the 2 terminals. If the motor is good, it will move but probably very slowly.

Bad window/mirror switches are commonly found on the LS430. It may well be your problem here as well.

I have the exact same problem on my "new" 02 LS430UL, i.e. No driver's seat up/down AND non-functional memory buttons. I plan to replace the up/down switch as you did. Did you solve the memory button problem? I'm assuming you replaced that button set [up on the door] as well, right? Wondering if these 2 problems usually happen together... Thanks in advance, J.L. How did you remove/replace the big lower seat trim piece without damaging it [to replace the switch]? My the seat is set to lowest height right now. Also, did you replace you mem buttons...how did it go? Regards, JLM

Here are pages from the repair manual for the front seat. Good luck with the repair...

Thanks so much...exactly what I need! At PullAPart I also picked up the small computer box in the driver's door under the memory switches and will replace it too when I put in the new mem buttons. I saw it in the junk 02 in the yard and figured it might be part [or all] of the problem...we'll see. Thanks again for this...I love Club Lexus!
