I've very dedicated to my reliable LS430 work horse and have purchased every seal needed to replace the valve covers although I'm only replacing the spark plugs. I've had the valve covers replaced recently but don't have confidence in their work. I don't want to find after my tech plulls all the plugs some have signs of oil seepage which will only be detrimental to the coil packs as well as the plugs too. I have the spark plug seals ready and a new valve cover seal set as once anything is disturbed, it's time to replace all the rubber seals....

You do have to remove the valve covers to replace the tube seals. There is no tube to remove except the coil itself as they seal the valve cover to the coil. The seals come out from the bottom and are held in with 4 metal tabs each that need to be bent out of the way. With the tabs out of the way it can still be difficult to remove the seals. Mine were hard like plastic. I used a combination of tapping them down from the top with a hammer and screwdriver and prying them from the bottom. The new ones are a tight fit as well and must be installed carefully making sure its installed with the correct orientation.

No need to ponder, the Lexus engineers have already figured out the best time. As per Canadian maintenance schedule, 12 years or 192000 km, whichever comes first.
