What is this inside my rim??

Never noticed this before and have had my car for 8 years. Only see this on one wheel- if you can't tell by the picture each individual thing says "25" on it. They look like they are mounted to a piece of tape or stripping- what is this?? The "tape" appears to be peeling off as well.

That is just the tape-on wheel balancing weights. If you look harder you will probably find something similar on each of your wheels.

Wheel weights used to balance your wheels. Some rims have the outer lip where they can hammer the weight on. But in your case, you require the stick on weights.

When tires are fitted to wheels at the point of sale, they are measured again on a balancing machine, and correction weights are applied to counteract the combined effect of the tire and wheel unbalance. After sale, tires may be rebalanced if driver perceives excessive vibration.

Prefer tape on weight versus clamp on which trap salt and corrosion. On chrome rims clamp on are a huge no no. You blemish the chrome and it is all downhill from there. The tape is very strong from what I have experienced
