Default F6&!ing BRAKE HANDLE!!

This is my third LS 430 and the discoloration is absolutely driving me crazy.

I can very easily paint it to match the interior, but I can't figure out how to preserve the silkscreened lettering.

Anyone familiar with silkscreening here?

Brake handle? Are we talking about the LS430?

I would bet this is referring to the off-yellow parking brake release handle. Maybe Lexus intended it to be a different color so it would be easy to find. Can anyone definitely confirm the color was different when brand new?

My car almost never sees the sun and I have FormulaONE Pinnacle 15 on all glass except the windshield, so there is no way my parking brake handle turned off-yellow from UV exposure. Either factory design or non-UV-related aging of the plastic caused the off-yellow color.

No familiarity with silkscreening but I don't mind the color - I assume it was that color from the factory.

He's talking about the emergency brake release handle beneath the coin tray on the left side of the dash. In cars that have cream color handles, they are prone to turning yellow. That is because they are of a plastic that yellows with time due to UV rays. Same material as original Mac computer cases. Any way, that mismatched handle really stands out and looks terrible. The dealer told me that even buying a new one might hand started to turn yellow. I solved my problem by taking the coin try out, taking the face off and having a paint match made at Home Depot. Then painted the brake handle with a small artist brush. A good match and I didn't mind losing the logo for the color.

It's always bugged me, but I'm not going to try and paint or replace it.

What bugs me though is the discoloration of the center steering wheel cover. I guess the previous owners rested their hands on it during driving so now it looks like a wear spot.
