I made a parts list for the installation hardware for my 2005 Ls430 without nav or ML unit. All these parts can be bought on Amazon and with Prime membership get 2 day free shipping.
I was going to give these parts to the installer so I didn't have to wait or pay marked up prices. I believe there still needs to be some splicing done but I that is why I would pay the installer. Bestbuy has a $70 charge for installation and you can buy a 4 yr warranty on parts and labor.
$115 - Clarion CX305 2-Din Receiver
Great reference thanks! Do you know if the steering wheel controls will still work?

the dvd function is disabled expect when the car is in Parking. DVD's have other capabilities than watching movies
Car crash movies are obsolete - I can watch them on a daily basis in rush-hour traffic
wondering if anyone has navigation and wanting to install a double din... that has a built in dvd player or a multimedia player like it can read mpg video files etc through usb or some sort...
at the same time mirroring it off to the factory navi screen...
I upgraded my whole system in my LS430 w/Navi, I ripped out the ML system and installed everything new.
Pioneer AVH-X4700BS (7" screen)
MVA-24L by Beat-Sonic (Believe there is a way to mirror DVD with factory Navi- I haven't done it yet)
4 - 6.5 two speakers
1 - 12" loaded subwoofer
These 5 speakers blows the doors off the 9 speaker ML system!!!!! Took me a lot of time and if I had to do it again.... I would in a heartbeat!
I remembered that I paid $344 out the door for the Beat-Sonic kit, the company gave me a $15 coupon because I backed out of the order and then he call/emailed me offering the coupon to complete the buying process. I guess they needed my business and worked out in my favor.
I used JBL GX602 6.5- compared these side by side with Alpine SPR-60's, JBL's had more clarity for a smaller price tag. Plus the JBL's have a 180w RMS peak power.
Loaded subwoofer is a box with a amplifier already built-in.
I have a 4 channel amplifier powering the (4) 6.5's plugging into the headunit. ML amplifier is out of the car and not in use.
Hope this helps Semar
