Drip Rails - LS430
Hi Folks..
New to forum and 1st post. I have had Lexus before, but recently purchased a 2001 LS430. Great car, well kept and only has 46,000 miles (47,000 now as I purchased in Florida and drove to NC). Only issue was the peeling rain drip rails on roof. Found this forum and saw that many have the same issue and also noted it was a costly issue. Looked all over online and couldn't find for a good price "except" on partsouq.com .. Here they were approx 50% of everywhere else. I studied the site and saw that it was from United Arab Nations so nixed it and continued my search..
Long story short, I ended up ordering from partsouq and was extremely pleased. The folks communicated with me when I had a question, double checked that the color was accurate, and had great communication on the shipping.
I have absolutely no association with this site "except" that I had a good experience so thought I would pass along the info. Before I ordered, I did quite a bit of digging and found that many others had great reviews. Though nobody indicated any issues w/ credit card, I used my PayPal after adding 2 factor authentication for every purchase just as a safeguard.
As another note, I called the Lexus dealer (who had the parts for about 4x the price I paid) and asked them to quote the labor only to install. They indicated they would not install 3rd party parts.. and I guaranteed them that these were Lexus parts and read the catelog #'s off the packages.. Though they verified they were the correct parts, I could tell they were lenient on putting them on.. they finally priced the labor at $450 (+/- a few bucks) which I think was there way of saying,.. "we won't say "no", but we will price such that you won't go with us".. he then recommended I call a body shop in case I find better prices for labor.
Again.. hope this helps..

Did these come in your paint color? That would make a small amount of sense but wouldn't it be easier to have a body shop repaint them? or maybe a weekend project? Mine are peeling too but I just slathered some touchup paint on it for now.
Yes they match the paint.. I had to assure that I picked the part # for left and right and for the correct color.
I had read that these rails were not the best for holding paint (think I read on this forum), so decided to go the route I did. I'm also admittedly not the best at projects like that
