Does any one have a schematic of the headlights and associated electronics?
No matter what I have done to date the headlights continue to go down then raise up and stay there when the key is turned on.
I even tried to mechanically turn the head lights down to a lower position but the system points them way up. So far up that approaching traffic will flash their light for me to turn mine down.
There must be another sensor somewhere that keeps telling the lights to raise up.
Anyone have any thoughts what I might try next??

It must be something in common with both headlights because they both do the same thing
Thanks
It's a thought but you should post the front sensor part number since this thread will come up in searches and possibly help another person.

I replaced my rear sensor ($264 on ebay Auto Parts Suppliers LLC ‏(apszone*‏) ) and it works great.

The old sensor had seized up.

Ended up pulling the fuse to the headlight adjuster motors and mechanically adjusting the headlights down using a 10mm socket, not the best solution but the lights don't blind oncoming cars any more.

Good! Don't think you're going to miss it that much. It can be a project for a rainy day.

Default adjusting the sensor link.

I just replaced a leaking LH front strut on my '04 430 and noticed last night that the light beam was low on that side. Today with the wheel off I worked out that the car being slightly higher now needed to have the link extended, which I did by about a half a turn. Tonight I see I need a further adjustment which would be much easier if I had a rack and a sighting board but with patience I will get it right. Thinking about the rear, my opinion is that it compensates for a weight in the boot/trunk so it is not my issue.

Headlight auto level message came on today
I want to disable the function and manually adjust the headlighs.
1. Which fuse is it to pull?
2. If the fuse is out, will the message still show up on the dash?

For 1) go to your owners manual and look for the section "fuses". Look for one that says something like "HEADLIGHT-LVL". Pull that one.

2) The answer is no. The message should disappear as the entire circuit will be dead.

Did it work for you? I want to try that.

It seems like a stupid feature and I don't want to spend a ton of money on a new sensor.

It's fuse #28 in the passenger side kick panel. I removed mine the other night. My lights where constantly adjusting. But no light. I'll remove the rear sensor when I have time and rebuild it.

have not removed fuse (left hand injury)
Lights remained in proper position. Maybe because the car runs now on coilovers which give it a set position.

Headlight leveling feature on my car 06 LS430 is pretty useless. I think it actually makes visibility worse particularly on hilly roads. If my sensor fails I would pull the fuse, manually adjust the lights and never miss this supposed feature.

It's only real function is to adjust the headlights down - if you have passengers in the back seat and weight in the trunk, the headlights would aim into oncoming driver's eyes. The mechanical adjusting arms near the wheel suspension are prone to rust and failure over time.
