Lexus has been updating the heads in the 460 until at least 2012. The hesitation issues are with the knock sensors activating due to resonating frequencies. It pulls timing drastically. It has nothing to do with fuel. This is wishful thinking.

430's and 400's don't burn oil. Even after very long OCI's. Mine does not burn any oil even with my 7500 OCI. Not 1/2 a quart. Not 1/4 of a quart. None. You won't find threads for 430 owners complaining about consumption. As I continue to mention, there are common problems with the 4.6 Not everyone experiences them all but they are pretty common. The brake actuators, the ML amps, the lower control arms front and rear, upper and lower, as well as the engine recalls, etc.. This thread has nothing to do with comparing the 460 to bmw or mercedes reliability but to the previous LS.

As far as sales go, Lexus sold a lot of 460's in 07 and then sales plummeted after that. Take it how you wish. The point is they have not recovered. If you want to blame the cost of the vehicle - this is fantasy. The LS lost its main customer base when it changed directions.

.

The LS is not the bargain it once was, when the LS first came out supposedly Lexus lost money on every one.

But the Mercedes S class is $95k+ new, and my guess is 90% of the ones actually sold go well over $100k after all the mandatory options that dealers stock. I was in the dealership and the one they had on the floor was $130k for an S550. And that's before tax, title, and license which adds another $15k. And I've heard they have no trouble moving them, which to me seems crazy.

The A8 is in the $80k range.

So the LS is still a discount to the other flagships, but yea, if I was looking to blow that kind of money on a new flagship, I would probably go with an Audi A8 for a bit more and dump it before the warranty as it's a ticking time bomb.

I personally like the lines on the LS460,and I will probably get one as my next car, but I do think the car feels a bit downmarket for a flagship compared to the competition. The interior to me doesn't look and feel all that different to an ES at half the price, whereas before, it was a bigger jump in quality.

Lavrishevo, I guess if you want to cherry pick the Internet and place half truths on here, I'll give you the LS430 (evidently your engines are sludge monsters, funny you never mentioned that).

http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums...engine-sludge/

And as previously discussed by the OP, 2007 LS460 improvements are...more power, better handling, better looking interior, outstanding reliability, exhaust cutouts that everyone tries to copy now, 8 speed transmission, improved fuel economy.

As for the LS430, it's an outstanding car as well.

Doublebase, your hilarious. Sludge monsters. Ok.... Whatever you want to believe. You should return the 460 forum and stick to the issue you guys experience over there.

It's annoying, isn't it? When someone links a thread and calls it fact. Yeah I'm going to head back the LS460 side of the house, where I'm sure I'll run into you trolling as you're laughed off threads...like usual

Your can lead a stupid horse to water...

The big difference is some of us actually know what we are talking about and obviously others do not. Good luck over there. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Plus they are more comfy and floaty, coz 460 feels simply too hard, like a BMW or something. Even with air susp, one might wonder what's the big deal ?
