any idea how to get at the bulb?

 

A hammer a chisel. And maybe chainsaw.
Sorry don't now but what I will start with is praying on it jently and see if that work.

I finally found out and was a breeze to change the air vent popped out and you could see the wiring with the bulb harness

Ha! That's what I thought, too.


Not sure where you found the bulb pictured there but it looks nothing like the one I saw when taking my console apart. To fix the loose lid it was required to remove the entire console and the amber light was held in with a screw. When looking closely it looks like 3 very small diodes behind the clear lens, doesn't look like an easy change.

 

yes you stand correct , those are indeed the wrong bulbs I posted , those bulbs go into the dash button lights , as far as cassette tapes go ,yes I play them because cd player jammed up the day I got the car , anyways sounds good
