Lav that sucks dude. Your 430 was probably lookin cherry for the bad guy......fortunately he just did a quick stab at the lock no big scratches or broken glass. Does smart key still work? I have never tried this....but a sharp new drill bit into the key..using cutting oil as u go.....then once u have drilled the hole put pliers on the bit and pull out.....If the bit pulls out....then epoxy it into the hole....let it cure and try again.

Our cars although old...they still draw the attention of a high end car......I must admit I skipped on a real happening scene in a local town with outdoor live bands...great food...etc.....parking was crazy tight.....and the main street was cool but the surrounding areas were crawling with shady Johnnies....My wife was disappointed.....I said whatever.....next time we will drive your car babe. I have too many hours into my car to let some idiot bang her up.

Sorry that happened to u Lav

I live in a good part of town, but here the jerks just bust your window to get into the car ! Had it happen twice in other cars. I stopped locking my car .... seems to have worked - no broken windows ! Hope you get yours fixed easy.

The drill bit idea is a good one I just want to avoid metal fragments in the lock itself. I will try the kit first. If that does not work I will try the drill bit. You know, I was thinking if I am able to get the broken key out and the lock works I could glue a little piece of plastic or rubber over the hole in the cover and just paint it with touch up paint. It would probably look fine. Right now it looks pretty bad. At least for my standards and I'm kind of obsessive about things like that.

Of all the LS's for this happened to, why did have to be one of the nicest on the forum?

You probably don't want to hear this, but it could have been much worse. If you're going to have to suffer a break in, that's about as good as it gets.

That is the pits... I hate those types...
Just last month I realized I'd not locked up my truck as it parks in the drive way... Assume it was some kids as they opened up every cubby hole looking for something, but walked away with nothing. Had two pair of Oakleys in the center console and they left them. Think they were looking for easy stuff, like phones, GPS and the like. Now I make sure it's locked.

Sorry for the damage and the hassle Lavrish... I know the feeling of being violated.
Hope it repairs easily....

Sorry to hear.. park a beater on the street.. park an LS in the garage. I don't even want the neighborhood cats trying to walk on my ride and they'll do it when you aren't looking.

I live in a historic neighborhood without garages so no choice with that. Moving to NJ this weekend so it will be a major change in scenery. Hopefully for the better. The area I will be in is pretty nice and the crime rate is lower. Although, my insurance premiums will go up about $200 a year. Go figure...

One thing I do notice is that the right to carry a firearm in NJ is extremely restricted. You have to be either a government employee or retired officer for your concealed carry permit. This sucks. Most restrictive state in the nation from what I am reading. Your vehicle is not considered an extension of your home either.

Hoping your move goes smoothly. Be sure to check the carry laws in all the states you're driving through if you're keeping your gun in the cab with you.
When I grew up in NY, you couldn't even own a handgun without a permit. Love Florida's laws. So many people have carry permits that personal crimes had dropped from before the law change.

States with super restrictive carry laws serve local violent criminals best by insuring that their law abiding victims are defenseless. When seconds count the cops are only minutes away.

Sorry to hear, in this case you probably wish they just broke the window since that such an easy fix.

I'm just happy nothing was stolen. If they broke the window it would of been a smash and grab. Would of lost the dash cam, gps, radar detector, and window. I am happy this did not happen. The lock can be fixed I am sure.

I have my GA carry license. The states that have GA reciprocity are: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Odd that South Carolina is not among them.

Basically what this means is that I have to keep it locked in the trunk or in a locked case if there is no trunk and separate from ammunition. I know, totally defeats the purpose. Ridiculous. Whatever. I guess that's just the way things are. When researching about the NJ license it basically said 99% of the average citizen is denied and if you are denied and ever apply in another state you have to list you were previously denied. This is why most do not even apply. It's crazy, hypocritical, and unconstitutional.

The slot in the LS430 trunk where the Lexus tool box resides can be used to cable secure and hold a reasonable sized metal locking pistol case.

Chicago (and Oak Park, IL) had a complete ban on gun ownership by residents until the SCOTUS* held the ban unconstitutional. Illinois had a law that prohibited concealed carry, and that too was recently struck down as unconstitutional.

excessive gun control, high taxes, high spending.....the reasons why many of us are out of here the day we retire, here meaning the NE and Mid Atlantic states. The pols don't get it, but there are plenty nice places in the south and west.....why stick around here if we don't have to.
