Talking door speakers upgrade

Just wondering if anyone has any new close to oem speaker upgrades? Or recommendations. I've been looking on Crutchfield for replacments....Mine are pretty bad in the front.
Or should I just spend the extra money and run a sound processer and really upgrade the speaker wattage

Neither. Go get a speaker re foam kit. Spend 30 bucks and do the pair! I used it on my subwoofer and it works great. You can repair instead of replace.

Markin Levinson speakers aren't too expensive.

But I see how maybe another brand can give better sound quality.

The OEM Mark Levinson speakers/sub are garbage. A few good brands I would recommend would be Polk, Alpine, Hertz, and Infinity. If you don't mind spending the extra money, I would recommend getting a decent four channel amp to power the speakers.

I'm putting a set of Polk speakers and a four channel amp into my 05 LS next month and hopefully my 02 LS soon after that. The factory Mark Levinson speakers and sub have a tendency to tear if your bass gets too loud.

Sorry for my ignorance, sound processor?

Could someone link me in on what that is? I actually need to upgrade my door speakers also, but if more is needed to get decent sound quality then fill me in! lol

Sound processor as in a DSP. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...96952980,d.b2w

Its not necessary unless you want the EQ and DSP goodies. If you plan on running external amps and bypassing the ML amp all you really need is a LOC (Line out converter) to switch from high power speaker out to low level RCA for the amps.

If you dont plan on running outboard amps and will reuse the stock amp all you need to do is swap out the speakers. Just be sure you match the stock speakers impedance. Running a lower then stock impedance speaker will stress the amp more then its designed and possibly cause it to fail prematurely.

I just upgraded all of my door and subwoofer speakers with non ML and couldn't be happier. I read the previous post for speaker replacements and upgrades then did research for correct ohm. Purchased from subwoofer from Amazon $39. Door speakers were purchased from Crutchfield for $239 total. If you PM me I can look up the part numbers. Im still running ML amp. Would have loved to replace the Amp but too evasive with the nav unit.

What did you put in the doors? What is the deck and amp putting out in this car for RMS?

How big is the difference from the stock Markin Levinson system do you think?
