idler pulley

i have a idler tensioner pulley squealing . can i just remove the pulley by turning the bolt clockwise and will this pulley work..http://www.autozone.com/external-eng...4085_913095_0/

what is the torque on that bolt?thanks jim

well that one doesnt work,its too big,still trying to find a replacement.

well i had to buy a complete tensioner at the toyota dealer because toyota doesnt sell the pulley alone anymore.great marketing!.i payed $77 for it and it was in stock.i removed the pulley off the new tensioner and installed it and the car is now quiet again.the part number is16620-0w101.
i was thinking of ordering a bearing but could not find a japanese one just chineses ones.

EDIT: Disregard. I see the new pulley has its own bearing. Explains why the entire assembly is priced only a few dollars more than the pulley alone.

tom,the pulley is held on by one bolt.toyota is pretty smart .the pulley costs ruffly $25 which will ware out way before the tensioner.my car has 100k miles.why sell a $25 part when you can sell it for $77.

No one needs the bracket for the idler pulley, so they sell the pulley only with the bracket.

to change it you need to loosen the Alternator to replace it.

Knock the bad bearing out, and re-install a new bearing.

update:seems like the noise is the alternator so i ordered one from advance auto and didnt get a shipping tracking number until 4 days later with a delivery date 8/4.so i removed the alternator and had it rebuilt for $82 and while it was out of the car i replaced the whole tensioner.got it all back together today and it is lexus quiet again.alternator had a bad diode.
