Default Clunking in Rear

I had a full load in my '05 and you know how some interstates are a little rough? Well, as I road over those "dips" and the rear end dropped down I got a loud clunk coming out of the rear. Today with just me in the care, I got the same "clunk" as I crossed the curb turning into my driveway. I haven't looked underneath yet. Anyone else experience this?

I guess it could be exhaust hitting underneath. Shocks seem fine.

I had a similar problem going over speed bumps. It turned out to be a bad strut. I wonder if you blew a strut with the extra weight.

How did you know it was a bad strut?

Before I bought the car, mechanic said one rear strut was leaking. 22,000 miles later, it started to make a clunk sound over some speed bumps. If I had more than two folks in the car, it would clunk over all speed bumps. I had 72k miles when I replaced them.

Did you replace both struts or just the bad one?

Both. Due to the age, I felt it was a matter of time before the other one had issues. It rides much better now. I'm planning to replace the fronts soon since I'm getting a weird air noise over speed bumps like one of them is going bad soon too.
