Sad thing is that most of these cars have never been above 85.

These things feel better the faster you get. 120MPH feels better than 90.

See, I love speed. I recently hit a GPS verified 194 mph on a nearby runway on my motorcycle (was trying for the 200 club but not yet) and have seen what all my cars can do, including my 430.

So I somewhat disagree that these cars are amazingly stable at high speeds. I just feel that they don't have enough downforce and it causes some float, especially with the soft sprung suspension. One of my previous cars was a 535i, and while the LS430 is a better car in pretty much every metric possible, the Beemer was more stable at 120 mph than my 430s, at least to me.

My Kawasaki Concours 14 can go from 30 to 140 to 70 in the length of an empty on-ramp, and it's a hoot doing it.
The LS was on a stretch of the A3 between Bonn and Limburg last September.
She didn't wander at all but I only held her there for a few secs and then eased off to a more sane 100Mph.
At that speed only the M5/S8/63AMG drivers were passing me.

I don't condone speeding (well over by 20 mph), but.....

One day I saw a richey rich in a Ferrari California, pulling out of the university (the one that recently won 2 basketball championships). He gets onto the highway so I attempt to keep up. He's walking me if he even knew at all, and I glance at my speedo and it's 140. This was in the 335i. That's the fastest I've ever driven it and it was made for it, I really didn't know I was going that fast and immediately backed it down Again, that could have cost me if busted...

But that's where I relate to your statement it's sad if a car isn't able to be driven as it were designed...

Yeah I don't condone it either, but it happened. My experience was driving through NM and AZ at 2-6AM, on flat interstates with zero traffic years ago moving away from CA and coming back home to TN. 125MPH for a few hours straight. It was crazy to look down every 45 minutes or so and see 100 miles gone by on the odometer.

Driven and been in many S class cars and 7 series, LS430 gives up nothing to them for high speed stability, autobahn storming IMO. Toyota didn't stop with the engine, the chassis, etc. got all the R&D too lol. Remember the 430 had the lowest drag of any production car in the world at the time, at least with air suspension (.25cd, .26 regular suspension). Funny, interesting, etc. bc the LS430 is a tall and blocky car. It doesn't look like a wind cheater, at all, lol.

We made it from West Hollywood, LA, getting out of LA at about 4PM to Amarillo, TX in 12 hours and 28 minutes. I'm pretty sure that's about a 16-17 hour drive. That was our halfway point where we stopped to sleep. The drive from TX to East TN was much, much slower. I still think my Dad thinks I'm lying about that time it took lol, but I'm not.

It's just another chapter I've had with that car and another reason it means so much to me, I will never get rid of it.

The LS400 (1998) will do about 150-160mph, due to the limiter at 156mph. I usually drive not faster than about 130mph, though. Up to ca. 100mph, gas consumption is very low (compared to driving in-town, when it is easily 2 times as much). At about 130, in my opinion, the sweet spot between speed and gas consumption is met. Note: use tires with speed rating of V, W or Y only at high speeds!
