Hi all, i rode in a 04 430 with the ml system and i must say the nakamichi i had in my 98 GS400 was 10x better, let alone the non ML base premium sound is even better, just thought i'd share.

 

Probably something wrong with it. I've own both, and the ML in my current 04 blows the doors off the standard system in my old 04.

 

The Nakamichi system was tinny and was meant for classical music. The ML system does better at a wider ranger of music. I am enjoying mine.

 

i agree my 98 gs400 nak system was much better then my ml system.

 

The ML system is a bit over rated, most would agree with you. But to be fair to Lexus, it was designed to satisfy the purchaser who bought the car new, not the person who bought the car used.

Also the '06 you were in has a system that's 8 plus years old now, may have been abused and could even be broken.

edit: my car has the basic sound system, and while its not able to achieve the volume I used to listen to 40 years ago with my aftermarket systems, I do find the sound very good, tight and have great equipment I could install but would bother as I don't need a 500 watt, extremely loud, bass thumping stereo anymore

 

Agreed... I had to repair the door speakers as well as the sub in the rear deck, to allow my ML system to play correctly.
My 2000 RX has the Nakamichi system in it, and yes, it's a different car, but there are no issues with the speakers or the sound it produces.

The ML system in the LS has a much wider range than the Nakamichi system. Smaller sub in the RX as well...

 

Listening to a good quality MP3 CD on my Markin Levinson is honestly a really good sound experience.

You might've listened to a bad radio channel, badly ripped CD etc.

 

What, another one of these "opinion" threads? Give it a break!

 

garbage is a little strong, but have to say its mediocre in my view. Maybe its the expectation....because the brand ML in terms of home audio is really quite good, by any one's definition, not the best, but very very good.
