I'm trying to put in a double din aftermarket head unit into my 2003 LS430 without Navigation. I'm using the Metra Mounting kit and seem that the head unit is hitting the plastic bar inside the dash? Does anyone have this issue? I took some measurement and it seems like I only have 130 mm depth to work with.

 

You have to cut that bar out. I used a pair of $3 metal cutters I brought from Harbor Freight .

 

Thanks! I was hoping not to touch the factory piece. Did you have to bend the 2 metal bracket that the bar is screwed on to it as well or cut that off also?

I don't want to get off topic but I was looking at getting the same dash kit for my 02. Which wiring harness did you buy and do you have any pics of the Metra kit?

You're the first person I've seen with the Metra kit so I had to ask.

 

Yes you have to bend those metal pieces back. As for a wiring harness I tried using Metra TYTO-01 JBL Amplifier Interface Harness but it did not work. I purchased the
Beat Sonic SLA-23ANT 99.00 and also
Beat Sonic SLA-24AAD 250.00
In the end it would have been cheaper to just purchase the entire beatsonic kit. Maybe metra has fixed the problem by now.
