Hi guys, I am having an a/c issue and its driving me nuts. I live in Puerto Rico so a/c is a must 360 days of the year lol. Ok so i have a 2001 UL, everything works on my screen except the a/c functions. I have no way of turning it on thru the screen or the auto button. Any help will be appreciated.

My suspicion (at least a place to start) having just removed the AC unit from my car is to inspect the wiring at the AC unit. There are some things that can corrode/break off which would cause the AC to not start. That would be the simplest and most likely problem. Not sure how hard it will be for you to access/see. Use a small mirror and a head lamp may help.
My suggestion is to take it to the authorized dealer and to have them give you an estimate to fix. That will tell you what, exactly, is wrong. If you spot the problem, and understand it, it is still worthwhile to take it to your shop for them to give an estimate. You can develop the skill of seeing if they like to rip you off, or if they are reasonable.
Then you can decide whether to try to fix it yourself, or find someone cheaper, or do it yourself.
Most of the time I end up doing the work myself, but in some cases (steering components, or anything involving springs, transmissions) I pay through the nose and have them do it.
