I'm tempted to try the Air Blue tint on my SC300's windshield. It actually looks pretty cool. I talked to my tint guy about it yesterday and he said it's pretty good stuff.

Tinting the windshield makes such a huge difference in heat reduction. Well worth it.

Got this last LS from Texas with full tinting, never thought much about it till this thread. Windows feel so much cooler to the touch compared to my last LS without.

Quote: What do you have as tint in your LS430 now?
No tint on the car yet. just got it 2 months ago and now the rear sunshade stopped working and is stuck in the up position . I need to fix that and then I can go get the windows tinted. I'm thinking I might do the windshield too , gonna be a long hot summer

Quote: I'm considering a Suntek product also. Did you get the Carbon or Carbon XP?
On my LS, I used the suntek carbon for the side windows, I was really happy with it.

On the windshield, I used Carbon XP 80, I won't do it again. It did a good job keeping the heat down but I wasn't happy with visibility. I'd like to try something different for the windshield.

My main concern is visibility at night. The street lighting here in Florida is not that great to begin with and I'm an old timer so my vision is already not great. I was planning on going with 35 all around but am considering whether I should do 50 for the front driver and passenger and 35 for the rear and back windows. I'll have nothing on the front windshield.

I would do it evenly. Trust me. It looks bad to have different shades from the front to back. You can get 40% if you want and maybe 50 on the windshield. 35% is really not very dark from inside the vehicle.

Air 80 blue is what you want. $600 is high though. I paid $420 for everything. I see some folks saying that $100 conventional is all the same. I would like them to get a 78% conventional tint and then sit behind my tint. I don't like the look of tint so this is perfect for me and safer since I can see better at night. Yes my car gets hot during hot day. No tint is going to stop that, it's a big chunk of metal so of course it's going to get hot. My car cools much quicker with this tint though and I can run my ac on low once it cools down. I probably wouldn't pay $600 for tint, but really I wouldn't trade this tint for anything else out there.

The SPF 1000 on ceramic tint is especially helpful for leather preservation. Ceramic is the best bang for the buck.

35 is not that dark, I can't see you having any issues, but you're the best judge of your own eye sight. I have one step darker (25?) and also have poorly lit streets and it hasn't been a problem.

One thing you can do if you're really sensitive to is dim the interior illumination of your car at night. That's usually what causes issues when people have a lot of brightness inside the car.

I think you'll be unhappy with 50, it's just a very light tint.

I've decided to go with the 35 all around. If I find any issues with night driving I'll change out the front 2 windows for 50.

35% is a good choice. It's not too dark and not too light.

I'm getting my tinting this Saturday. Which is a better film, 3M or Suntek? I'm not going the ceramic route.

i just scheduled my installation of huper optik for my ls430 for next wednesday. the black on black greenhouse is getting old driving during the day.

who here has actually had huper optik installed in one of their cars? im going with 30 all round with 70 on the front and will be adding a 4 inch black vinyl strip as well, which this is the state minimums in colorado.
