Default paint compare LS vs Infiniti G37

rather surprising thing happened the other day when I washed my LS430 back to back with my Infiniti G37S. The LS paint was noticeably smoother, much more slick to the touch than the paint on the G. the LS is an '02 and the G37 is an '08, neither have ever been waxed, and externally and cosmetically anyway, neither have been particularly well maintained. Mechanically, a different story. But I was genuinely surprised how much smoother and slick the paint surface was on the LS. Obviously a higher quality finish. Very noticeable. The body panels were also much more solid to the touch, less yielding and thin feeling. Remarkable...keep in mind the Infiniti is also an assembled in Japan, luxury automobile. But from a body work standpoint, it did not compare. granted, $40k versus 65k, but still. Would love to do the same exercise on say the new Q70.

Apply some clay bar to the Infiniti and see if it smooths out some... but that won't help the solid feel, but might help with the smoothness.

yeah like legender said above, clay the G and see if it gets smooth like the LS. could be that the G has gathered more surface contaminants than the LS
