Guys

I'm actually looking to install a Grom unit only for bluetooth. I currently use a bluetooth headset and people can hear me very clearly. Do you guys think the Grom unit would be as good in audio quality for the far end. Basically will the microphone pick up my voice as good as regular headsets?

Thanks

I just installed mine recently and it works great. I mostly use it to stream music from my phone so I hardly use the bluetooth for calls but when i do, i always ask if they can hear me clearly and they have no problem.

i installed the the one without Bluetooth, just because it takes USB, so i have a GB drive there more than enough and i didn't want to not use the car Bluetooth for phone calls.. The sound is as nice as a CD player. works great, its been about 5 months no issues. the wiring was Little pain since i put in the glove box.

For those of you who installed this, did you need the radio code when reinstalling everything? Does it even prompt you for it?

Rolled the dice and did the install. No radio code required. Works great and now I have bluetooth music + calling. Great!

I was inches away from installing the GROM in my 05 LS430 and opted for a cassette adapter, a Griffin I got on ebay shipped for $6. Sound quality is nice and no issues.

I'm the type of person that installs a double din touch screen in pretty much every vehicle i buy, right away, but this time I'm going to use the factory stereo for a while and enjoy the low cost. Maybe a GROM later. But i am a stickler for audio quality and i have to say I am surprised at how listenable the audio wuality is on thie cassette adapter, i tried two a maxell and the Griffin, for reference. They both had the same quality.

so if you are on the fence and want a fast cheap and decent solution, perhaps try a cassette adapter while you are weighing your options for a GROM or a new head unit. eBay is the best place so far i have found for these things on the cheap.
