hi all thought i would ask this question because i read threads and can't really get a sense.
i have a 2002 gen2/3 nav in my car with levinson radio. i have original cd version 1, i am trying to get a sense for upgrading if it will change the look and feel of the maps shown or just will update the poi and the map. i have a garmin and my iPhone to do mapping just wanted to see if it would be worth it to use the system of the car. believe it or not one of the reasons i haven't done it because my speakers are delicate and have been fixed in past, and the nav unit uses the speakers and didnt want to have an issue with front speakers.

I have an '02 UL and upgraded the Nav a few years ago. It updates the poi's and adds a few colors to the map (lakes are blue, golf courses a darker green, etc.). Your question really is whether it will look like a Garmin or the Nav screens on the current models. The answer to that is no, it will still have the old look. That said, I am glad I upgraded and the system works flawlessy. It gets me where I want to go and works better than our Garmin in downtown areas.

I also have an 02 UL and upgraded the Nav myself. My disc version is "Toyota Lexus Navigation DVD Gen 2-3 v10.1 86271-33049 464210-1670". Since v10 is 3-4 years old now, I recommend that version since it's cheap and easy to obtain than newer versions.
