Default New 2003 LS430

Hello,

I have just purchased a black 2003 lexus ls430. It has only 100,000 kilometers on it and the inspector (who was very thorough) gave it the green light.

Just wanted to know what the trouble spots on this car are.

Also, from looking around on the web it seems as though most of the parts are reasonably priced - if you don't go to a lexus dealer. Am I correct?

Seems to me like a hidden gem. I get to ride around in a pimpmobile having paid a fraction of a cost of a new car.

Any comments on this car?

Thanks!

Welcome to the group! As long as you stay on track with the maintenance schedule you should be good. If you have a UL there are a couple more electronics that could go out. For the most part it seems these cars are bulletproof!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I read great things about these cars and decided to take the plunge even though the car is 10 years old.

There are no air shocks on the car so I believe it's the custom luxury edition and not the UL. Drive was very smooth and power was excellent. Also, I have two kids and there's plenty of room.

Waiting for the shop to prepare a few things and plan to pick it up this week.

If the display is in kilometers, I would guess that it is a Canadian model.
AFAIK, there was no way to change the display between US (miles) and Canada+others (kilometers)without swapping the ECU.
The options and packages were different from the US models.

There was no "CL" or "UL" package for the 2003 model year Canadian specification LS430. Option packages for Canada had different names and were quite different in what they included compared to option packages available on the US market 2003 LS430.

Yup it's a Canadian car. Actually I live in Quebec. When I signed up to this site, it asked me for a state and a US zip code, so I put the closest state. Anyway I changed it so there's no confusion.

I'll have to run the VIN by Lexus and see what the actual package is. I know it is not the Ultra and doesn't have air shocks.
