Possible ls430 owner... Advice needed
If it were me I would buy it and put $7000 on the side, Enjoying a $60,000 car for $12,000 you "may" spend on it is worth it if you don;t mind the hassle of a break down now and then. The guy who bought it new spent far more than that when the front wheels went over the dealer's curb,
The biggest mistake people make when buying any high mileage used car at bargain prices is not putting at least the same amount in a seperate accouint for repairs, Then when a $900 repair comes up they are screwed,

No problem. There is quite a bit of misinformation on this topic.
UCF 1x = early LS400s ('90 to '97) while UCF2x = '98 to '00 LS400s.
I think that is correct of the top of my head, but may have the change year wrong.
UCF3x = '01 to '06 LS430s.
The last digit is: 0 = No factory air suspension, and 1 = with factory air suspension.
Unfortunately, Lexus decided not to use the "1" designation for US models, at least for the LS430.
So a US market LS430 is always a UCF 30, even if it has the Ultra Luxury package (which includes air suspension).
I think the "1" was used for US market LS400s (with air suspension), but don't know this for sure.
There is a rather long thread on this particular point, either in the LS400 or LS430 forum.

Thanks for the info Gene
I looked at the car this afternoon and everything checked out. This guy did a good job of maintaing it and is in great condition for the mileage. The car had a major service work done at 210k all 4 struts, all flushes, timing belt water pump, drive belt, you name it he did it. I saw the bill was close to 7k after parts and labor. The biggest problem was that the drivers side mirror did not tilt up and down but titled side to side and folded in. All other features worked all locks, power seat controls and all heated seats. The stock radio volume button has some play and the armrest has seen better days. Hids work. I waa shocked as i was expecting something more beat up. We took it to lexus and there service department was closed. They didnt update the new timea on there website.
I feel stongly that this car was well taken care of and i plan on taking it to lexus after i pick it up tomorrow. I ended up negoiating the price to 3500 which imo is a steal for what it is. This guy was 58 and had a lot of persoanal memorries with it so it was tough to get it to 3k where i wanted it. All i can do is cross my fingers and hope for the best now.
Thanks for all the help everyone

The problem with the mirror control may just be that the electrical contacts need to be cleaned. $3500 sounds like a good deal. I would go for it.
