Default Quantity of WS fluid needed for tranny?

2004 LS...want to drain/refill transmission. Amount of fluid needed isn't in manual, I guess because the procedure is not advised or recommended by Lexus...lots of threads on this site, but couldn't find amount needed to buy...please help!

Please let us know how to do this procedure. I do not believe in 100K tranny fluid changes 30K in my book.

i took it to my local toyota dealer and had it done.they have a machine that pulls out the old and applies the new.it does not flush the transmission which is not good for our cars.
i have noticed more smoother shifts since i had it done.
i did mine at 83k miles.money well spent.

How much did the dealer charge you? How many quarts of fluid did they use and was it Toyota T-IV?

It may sound like a dumb question but my local Lexus dealer uses a Valvoline that is not recommended but acceptable as a substitute for T-IV. I want no part of it so I have an independent transmission shop that will do the exchange with T-IV.

Thumbs down

I went to the Lexus dealer today and asked the sevice adviser if he had the machine to do the tranny fluid change he said yes. He said they flush the system that that made me wary then I asked him how much it costs he said $200 that made me wary. Then I asked him how many quarts it takes to do the job he had to ask someone and told me 4 quarts that made me very wary. Then he said why would you want to do this we only do this if there is a leak. They do not get to touch my car.

Iam at 28K I want to do this by 30K I will ask my Toyota dealer my other car is a 4Runner I do not think they have the machine. Every time they did the tranny on the 4Runner they billed me for 1.3 quarts.
