My driver side brake lights don't work but my turn signal light still works. I removed the tail lamp assembly but the only light I see that I can change is the turn signal. So top and bottom brake lights don't work!Is there a way for me to change the bulbs or is there another issue? I am having the same problem on the trunk lid lamp on the drive side. Top red light works but bottom red don't plz help!!!

Here is some pics I found on the web to show what I'm dealing with.

Yeah. My trunk lid assy seems to be giving me trouble. For about 2 weeks the bottom half of it was very dim. Then out of nowhere this week it seems to be working again. SMH. But i know its a matter of time before it goes completely.

Glad my 2002 taillamps are easy to replace bulbs. I only had to replace one taillamp bulb in my 4.5 years of ownership, and the bulb was $1.58CAD after tax, from the dealership.

This looks like one of the challenges a member of this forum would love to get hold of. Bet answer will surface. Very few of these things does somebody let Lexus win.

Hey man I’m having the same problem but the top of it doesn’t like up when I brake. Do I have to buy a whole new taillight?

Unless you are happy with cutting open your existing taillight and replacing LEDs one by one until it works.
The easy option is to replace it, but there are a couple of threads on here on how to replace the LEDs if you fancy doing that.

this is a fairly common problem with the LED taillights , as far as I understand

But to be fair it has lasted 21 to 23 years depending on what year your LS is.
A neighbour has a 6 year old Citroen that has half of it's LEDs out.

Tail kamps
Make sure there is no leak in the trunk because that’s where some of your fuseboxes are the left fusebox has to do with taillights , brake lights and back up, trunk and gas guage (probably more but these were my issues ! I had water in spare tire area up to an inch! Couldn’t believe it ! Ruined one fusebox but I replaced that and all is well so far!
I have an 2001 LS430
