Been having a hard time programming my Garage door to the Homelink , tried everything i read on this forum and finally e-mailed ,Homelink .
my GD opener is a yr old Chamberland model lw5000 .

However, vehicles that were manufactured before the latest version of Homelink was available will need a HomeLink Repeater to program the HomeLink to your new Chamberlain opener. According to the year, make and model of your vehicle you will need the Homelink Repeater to program your Homelink. The Repeater is available on our website for $49.95 plus $7.00 s/h. sounds like bs to me.i would clear all codes on your cars homelink then hit the learn button on you door opener motor and program your car in the time allowed untill the garage door light blinks 3 times.good luck
do you have a owners manual?

 

I have a 2004 LS430 and replaced the garage door opener last year. It drove me nearly crazy after assembling and installing to find that I couldn't program it (I vowed that the next time, I would take the unit out of the box, plug it in, and see if it programmed!)

I finally contacted Chamberlain and found the same info you mention. Procured the repeater and that does indeed allow the signal from your car to be converted and transmitted to the opener.

Sad, but true. Order the repeater. It will work. Beats taking the unit down, disassembling, and returning. They really should have made this clear on the box or instructions.
