Default First Impressions

I just got a 2002 LS 430 last week. I am impressed with the feel of the car. It has a very smooth and comfortable ride without being too soft or boatlike. It seems to have adequate power and the isolation from road noise in the cabin is great. I have only had a few short drives in it for now, so I can't make anything but very short term first impression comments. I am looking forward to more seat time. I'm a critical car guy and usually find more faults than I find likes. I got a feeling that will not be the case here.

Congratulations on the recent purchase... I too have an '02 model and love the way it drives and handles. Plan a long trip and see what you think...I know you'll enjoy the seat time.

I can't think of a reason you'd be displeased, enjoy it... welcome to the club.

Default Anticipation

I am looking forward to checking it out a bit and soon. There have been several things that have contributed to the delays in putting a few miles on it. I don't see anything that I don't like for now. I am concerned about the cost of servicing. Is there a database for reputable and maybe reasonably priced service shops in various areas of the country? I'm thinking that a Lexus dealer might be pretty expensive. I do have a small shop of my own, for tinkering on Grand Nationals, but I'm not a real mechanic. I think I could do some things but wonder if I'm capable of something like the timing belt. Luckily for me the service for that was already done and shouldn't be due for a while.

Default Update

I just had a chance to drive the car some today. This was the first time I noticed that the heater temp control isn't working. It just keeps getting hotter, even with the temp set as low as it goes. There must be a sensor or electronic control malfunction. The fan also stays on high constantly when on auto. This is dissapointing. I hope the fix isn't too expensive. I still like everything else about the car. If anybody has suggestions to diagnose and repair, I'm open.
