Default Catalytic Converter options

I am told that there are aftermarket options for replacing catalytic converters. Does anyone know if these will work well on Lexus? I have a 2003 LS430UL, and have bad converter codes, and engine light on. Thanks in advance for your help!

Thank you rix101. I'm certain anyone selling them will tell me that. I'm looking for someone here who has actual experience with them, or suggestions on where others here have purchased them.

normally when you buy a part it comes with warranty. why would they be manufacturing parts that do not work?

a lot of folks use aftermarket cat's, i dont understand why you are worried. just get it, replace and forget about it.

Is it an actual cat converter? Did you have someone look at the exhaust?

xuser, I'm getting that code, and check engine light comes on from time to time.

rix, worried? not really. Concerned about car being right according to hoyle? yes
My experience is that it is better to have a history of something actually working rather than relying on the theory of "if they sell it then it must work". But I applaud your optimism.

i had the same thing happen to my ls. check engine/vsc off would come on. you might have a leaking pipe. once the hole gets bigger check engine will light up every time you start the car. does it sound any louder?

I don't hear anything that sounds like an exhaust leak, but my mechanic will be doing struts, brakes, and fixing an oil leak this coming weekend, and I can have him look for one.

Where was yours? I've had VSC warning light too, plus the check engine light went off sometime n the last few days for whatever reason....

i would suggest against aftermarket cats, the dont last usually. Most of the time if you have a leak on these cars is the flandges swell up and deform from rust.
