Default Trunk door operation '06 LS 430 very heavy

When I open the trunk door it seems very heavy to open and when it's open it wants to fall, sometimes on my head. My car sits on a driveway where the back wheels are lower than the front wheels so that adds to the problem, but it seems heavy even on a flat area. Is that the normal working relationship or are the cylinders attached to the door not working? Retperio

Your trunk struts are done. Replacement is in order. I'd recommend buying struts on eBay - cheap and good quality. I see no reason paying $70 per strut at the dealer.
Also trunk struts should hold the trunk in any position, open 5%, half way or fully regardless of how the car is parked.

Agree - trunk lid operation on my 2006 LS feels very heavy, especially opening it to full height, but it does not fall from any open position except maybe from 3/4 almost closed. It likely that your struts have lost their seals and require replacement.

New struts should hold the trunk open until the bottom of the trunk lid is approximately 10 inches above fully closed.

Default Trunk door

Thanks for the replies. I hope the struts are covered on my warranty which is still in effect from Lexus.

I installed new Strong Arm supports this time last year.
The trunk does stay open as required, but it is still very heavy to lift, and to close . This heaviness must be resistance to the Pistons been extended.
