Default Brake Job

During my brake job my OCD kicked in hardcore. cleaned and painted the calipers, cleaned, inspected suspension parts. So I turned a 1 hour job into 5 hours, but it was worth it. every time I tear into this thing, I gain more respect for the Toyota engineers and assemblers. They made this car so easy to work on.

thats about all the time it takes. Which raises the question.....what was driving the engineers to design it that way---were they looking for superior performance first, or were they trying from the get go to build a brake system that was really easy to repair. I've never seen a disk brake system designed anything like this...so it appears to be out of the box thinking. Car companies don't make changes like this on a lark....too bad we don't have any toyota engineers that can chime in

I think they definitely designed performance and ease because of the size of the calipers and pads, along with the very good stopping power. Then of course the ease is known and designed. I dont know if the design has carried to the other Lexus' since.

Thanks! Now I have to loop the Brake Sensor wire to turn off the warning light, until I can find a deal on a new BP Sensor.

My next Pad Change will be that way. I love this simple setup. Talking about size, The sales Clerk thought these were truck/SUV Rotors
