I was going to wait but my tensioner started squealing really loud and my belt looks a little dry. I'm hoping I can get a good deal on labor.

Is there anything else besides the stuff in the kit and spark plugs that needs to be replaced at 90k miles?
Serpentine belt if that wasn't done already.

My old LS would get valve rattling sound on hot days only in the summer and I felt with 175k upper end was a lil loose but wondered as I did not do the tensioners. I drove it hard every day. What are symptoms if tensioners get loose?

I have also ordered the serpentine belt. Even though car has only 73K I don't want to take any chances. Plus old one will serve as a spare just in case new one fails ever.

after all the years of reading these timing belt threads thought it was time to put some points for people that are not a mechanic to make it simple.
A) These belts are strong and will probably last much longer than the 90k, if your in bad climate or weather that changes with humidity etc pick a age and mileage that makes sense for you with age as much as mileage.
b) the water pump and tensioners should last much longer than 90 k.. so if the car has been maintained mostly with a coolant change every three to five years the first 90 belts change or 120 whatever mileage you choose have those inspected and save the money wait till the second belt change for those. i know what if scenarios, but most of us dont want to spend 1000 especially when i am doing 30,000 miles a year
C) change the coolant every five years or 50,000, this will be good for the motor as well as the water pump etc. this also plays into when the belt change my ls had 104,000 original belt but had original coolant in car so to spend 129$ for coolant flush when they do it with the belt change was ridiculous, so i did the belt and got the coolant changed and my throttle body was cleaned at the same time.
there is no perfect scenario my water pump can go in 10000 miles and yes i will have to do most of the job again but for people looking at the reality in decent climates extend out these belt changes to to the end of there limits. if you want to do something really good for maintanence to keep the motor clean i have posted mulitple threads on using mobil 1 extended performance oil not the reg mobil 1 and change the tranny fluid on pre 04 every 30k..
safe driving to all

should have put in last post couple last things
the serpentine belt should be changed when its visible with wear dont wait till the timing belt change. it is a ten minute job to change it basically loosening a bolt so negotiate with your garage or find a toyota /lexus private garage that can do it.

My car is LS430, 2003, 97K mile. I recently changed timing kit order from Ebay 14 pieces, $319. I also changed Mobile 1 15K oil and filter, 3 quarts of transmission fluid Toyota type IV, air filter, 8 Denso spark plugs, coolant. An independent auto shop charge $450 for labor. All parts and labor cost me about $950. I trust this auto shop to do timing belts all of my cars. So far so good.

That's a pretty good price to be honest. Where at in Texas are you located?

I live in Dallas TX. The auto shop is in Richardson. They charged to change timing kit $350 regardless how many parts you got, water pump, tensioner, serpentine belt, thermostat ....
You will pay extra a little if you need to change oil, transmission fluid, spark plugs ....

I just changed mine last week, the water pump was showing signs of seeping in a few spots, and the timing belt was beginning to fray on the ends although the rest of the belt still looked fine. I changed it just under 97k.

This - I had mine changed @ 105k and asked the dealer to put the old ones in the trunk. I spoke to him after the timing belt / water pump replacement and he said they both looked like new with 0 wear.
I'm going to change mine every 100k though..

Ahoj z evropy a České republiky.
