Nada and kbb say you're quite a bit low, enough to say that even trading in to a dealer should net $2k more.

Private party, you're giving that car away at $23k.

In my area, I'd list it around $28-29k or so.

Yeah 23 sounds kinda low. If I were to sell mine today (I have an 04 with 47k mi, excellent condition) I would prob list it at 25-26 (that's what I bought it for 2 yrs ago), maybe even 27-28. You can always throw in 'or best offer' at the end of your ad so your potential buyers will know there's a bit of wiggle room in your pricing.

EDIT: I remember seeing pics of your car btw, she was pristine!! You should have no trouble selling it

If you're not willing to let it go for so low you could always say you got a better offer and then set it at a price you would be willing to part with it....worst case scenario you hang onto the car for a few more weeks but gain a couple of thousand. Otherwise the other guy just got one sweet deal...

Why would you set an asking price/accept an offer then ask AFTER the fact for input on the price? Not trying to be a A$$ I just dont understand.
List the car for $28k/offer and see what kinda feedback you get....sounds simple enough to me.

I understand what your saying... I was having a hard time trying to asses fair market value. Its hard to compae my car to others, because it almost doesn't exist The few I did, were priced quite high and I was begining to question If my evaultion was off. I think I will list it much higher and see what kind of offer I get.

First of all, you're not going to get full retail, you're going to get private seller price and for me, even with low miles it would be hard pressed to get someone to pay $28 at this point. Be honest people, who here would pay even $25k for this if they had to buy? I see that when it comes time to buy,any price is too low, but when were selling, it's like were trying to sell the hope diamond.. jmo.

Wholesale for the car is likely $18-19k max. $23k sounds like a fair deal.

A couple of observations - 1. if you are unsure on the price list it on autotrader for a couple of weeks for more and see if you get any real offers. 2. If you already agreed to sell the car at the 23k price then you already have a deal and need to follow through on your agreement. If you did not agree then you are free to decline that price and request more. I don't see the car bringing more than 24.5 max in private sale but it might - you never know until you list it for a couple of weeks. .

$23,000 is "all the money" for this car. You should be glad you did so well. Take the sale and run. Seems to me you're getting full retail value (Not asking price retail, but real selling price.)

Check Edmunds, it's much lower than KBB or NADA. Go ask a dealer what they would give you for trade-in...I bet $15 to $17 grand.

I paid $29,500 for an '06 with 8,000 miles two years ago. Had looked at an '04 with 20,000 miles and negotiatied down to $23,000, but found the 06 before that went through (both ML with Nav and smart key). And, these are deals at dealers.

Why new struts, timing belt, WP, etc...at 35K miles?

There is a LS 430 UL package listed at a California dealer for $28,970. It has 31K miles. You might want to base your price on that keeping in mind that this is "dealer" price.

http://aluxauto.com/2004-Lexus-LS430...1/Details.aspx

Hope that helps.

Based, on this dealer price, your $23k asking price seems reasonable IMO.

Sell the car, you are getting a good price. I bought a 2004 ML (ca. car) with 39K just 6 months ago and paid 17K from a private party. It is in mint condition with the same options as yours.
Info why would a car with only 35K need timing belt and water pump? Sounds strange

He did the timing belt because the car is 8 years old now. Timing belt is made of rubber. Rubber deteriorates with time, regardless of miles. You don't have to actually hit 90k miles to replace the timing belt.

Im sure the water pump was done just because the timing belt was already accessed. Cheap part, so might as well do it.
