News Flash: Just because the tire shop got the wheel to balance doesn't mean its round nor does it confirm if the wheel is straight and not warped. For some reason tire shops seem to believe it does. They also think you can beat a bent wheel back to round, but you can't. At best you can approximate round, but you can't pound it round. If you have a shake in the suspension check your rims by mounting the wheel in a balance machine and hand spin it so you can visually check it and if necessary hold a tool near the edges to check it. Find a ma & pa shop that will let you look over their shoulder. Chain stores suck at getting this right.

 

Yup. Having a dial gauge handy to check also helps. What happened to your wheel? Curb-impact hit? Maybe a way out of balance tire? How much weight was needed on the wheel?

 

its also true that just because a shop has sold you expensive, ultra high performance tires, doesn't mean they are going to guide your car straight down the road, even if they are balanced properly and your car is properly alligned.

 

I feel your pain boys. One of my Wald's is slightly off and no one wants to touch a 3 piece wheel. under 50mph everything is cool, over..it's a little shaky.

 

I agree with this 100%! This is my own experience too.

 

Hard to say how much weight it took to balance because there were soooo many. Seems another think tire shops like to do is leave the old weights on and just add more. This country is going to hell on the express train.

 

One tire shop that mounted up some Yokohama S-Drives, the guy had 8-1/4 weights then 4 more in another position. The car vibrated at 35MPH+. I took it to another shop and the guy said the wheel was better with no weight than what that tech had put on. After his balance, the wheel had 3 weights on it. All four wheels were wayyy off.
