I heard that there is a hidden outside trunk release button near the license plate on the 01 ls430. The only thing I see is a black plastic thing that looks like a button to the left od the left license plate light lense but it is solid and does nothing if pushed.

Is mine broken? Does it need to be rogrammed to work? Or is the switch somewhere else.

If that black plastic plug thing is not a release switch to open the trunk after all, then what is it for?

Please advise.

there is only a button if you have the smart key access.

 

Move your smartkey fob close to the center mounted stoplight, then press this button.
