Default spots on chrome wheels?

I posted this message in the detailing section but thought I would try here as well. Anyone have an LS430 w/chrome wheel option that has had a similar problem?

I recently purchased a Lexus LS430. Car has chrome wheels with what I am assuming are rust spots. I have used griot's garage heavy duty wheel cleaner with the finest grade steel wool...no luck. Picked up never dull yesterday...nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is pic:

- Spray bottle with water.

- Folded sheet of aluminum foil.

Spray mist of water on foil and rub gently. Rust should turn to black liquid and wash away, replaced with aluminum oxide. Then apply polish / wax of your choice.

If the basics haven't given results, it is unlikely you will completely remove these spots. Salt is harsh on wheel finishes and the damage accumulates over time like this.

You might also try Mother's brand Chrome Polish. It really cleaned my wheels up nicely. I was also unaware of the aluminum foil trick. Duly noted.

I learned the aluminum foil trick online last week when I tackled some rusty fenders & rims on my GF's bicycle.
