Default Purchased 05 LS 430

Hello all CL members. This is my first post on this board. I would like to thank all of you for posting very informative information on this board. I originally had a 01 Lexus GS 430. Besides the minor rattles here and there the GS did not give me any problems. I recently gave my parents my GS 430. I purchased a 05 LS 430 with the custom luxury package. The car is silver with black interior. So far I am in love with the LS. The car is very quiet and the ride is like being on cloud 9. I have learned so much from CL on what to look for when buying these cars. This LS has so many electronic gizmos. I have turned off my parking assist and only turn it on if I need help parking. I hope by doing this my parking sensors will last a while. I noticed when I place the car in reverse my mirrors tilt down. I have placed the mirror controller in the center position so when I back up my mirrors do not tilt down and cause wear. I know as the car ages parts that are electric will go out eventually. I was going to turn off ASL but I hate looking at the warning indicator in the instrument panel so I left it on. I did get my windows tinted to protect the interior and I always place a windshield sun visor to protect the steering wheel and dashboard. My LS is originally from New York. When I took my car to my mechanic to replace the brakes he asked me where did this car come from. I told him New York and he said "no wonder the rotors have so much rust. I ended up replacing all rotors along with the brakes. Other than that the car is great. I will do my best to take care of this car as I did with my GS. I posted a pic of my new LS 430. I will post more later. Thanks again for all the valuable posting on CL.

Welcome, beautiful car. Many have had the steering wheel telescope and/or tilt disabled by the dealer to save these motors. If you search these fourums, you can find a list of items that can be changed through the use of a dealer hand held device. (ie: headlight delay, beeps or light flashes when using key fob, etc).

I like having the wheel tilt up but disabled the telescope. In any case, enjoy.

Thank you. I got the lightest shade of tint. I did not want to go limo dark in the back and light tint on the front. So I selected the lightest tint all around.

Do you know if it is one motor for the tilt up and another for the telescope?

Love the color combo. Looks pretty clean for a car that was in new York. Normally cars from ny have bumper issues and it looks like yours are fine

I was very surprised that the car did not have any door dings. Unless the dealer had a paintless dent removal done. I also love the color combo.

Thanks for the reply. I will not de-activate the tilt and telescope wheel. If it goes out, I will just get the motors replaced. I had good luck with my 01 GS430 tilt/telescope.

I have the same exact car with Ecru interior. Bought with 41k miles, now with 83k after almost 4 yrs of ownership.

How many miles does your care have? Jim.

Hi Jim, My LS has 82k miles but sounds and drives like it is new. What exterior color is your LS?
