Lighting questions for LS430UL headlights
Hey everyone! I purchased my 04 LS430UL almost a month ago and just want to do some minor upgrades to begin with.
I'm trying to change out the headlight bulbs to get a different color (12000k) and I see that there is a very dim bulb in the inner part of the headlight which I'm assuming is the DRL.
I don't know if that same bulb is the high beam as well but I would like to change it out to HID or LED if possible and want to make sure that if it is the DRL and high beam, that I get a bright output from it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

a lot of us on here have done the drl upgrade but you will be like us and loose high beam capabilities in order to have pimpin *** drl's
i've heard of a new hid kit conversion that allows for regular and high beam light output settings and apparently works with the factory stuff so when you put on the high beam you get a high beam. if i were to do it over again i would go this route... check hid extra to see if they have it.
and yes the drl is the highbeam in our LS430's there is also a little little bulb inside the light right next to the headlight that if you change this to an annoying powerful bright blue led will make your stock (best in the business) headlights appear to be much blue-er which is what i did.

sojah...
do you know what type the little little lights are that i can change out to make the headlight look blue-er?
any recommendations on the drl led lights?
do you have pics of your ride with the drl and the other "little" light so i can see what it looks like?
Thanks

well, i used to have 12000k on my other vehicles and it was very bright and easy to see the road (dry of course). good reflection and was just different than the "ordinary" vehicles. I hate purchasing a vehicle and seeing 10 others just like mine parked next to me at the mall or grocery store or anywhere else. I like to make it a bit different but subtle differences to where it still looks almost stock but it gets people thinking there's something different about that car if you know what i mean. can't afford rims or those expensive jdm spoilers, roof spoilers, or body kits so starting off with the cheap fixes.
if your doing it for your own customization, then cool. personally, i don't like anything over 6000k, but that's me.
someone please correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought HID bulbs really only change the color output as you go to higher K measurement? i thought i read somewhere that the brightest output from HID lights is 5000k?

ebxgsxr, im more interested in doing this for personal customization. the 12000k bulbs i used to have actually gave out a deep blue with a very slight purple hue which looked way different than just the white or the really blue headlights i see on cars alot. it not only looked cool but it was much easier to see the road at night as well. this is just my personal opinion. the 5000k to 6000k is the brightest white but it looks too "plain" as most vehicles with hid lights from factory have. yes, the 12000k is not as bright as the 5000k or 6000k but its different than stock and especially when you do the same on the fog lights because the fog light bulbs on the ls430 are standard bulbs and not hid. this way, i get way better light output using both lights.
i'm actually trying to find some daytime running lights in hid that can stay on at low voltage and can still be used as high beam. have not yet found one so if anyone knows where i can find it, i would greatly appreciate it. as for the guys using led's as the drl, i heard that if you do that, you cannot use high beam? i cannot stand it when people cut me off or drive crazy and sometimes you either honk or turn your high beams at them. here where i live, there are alot of crazy drivers and they need to know that they are not paying attention to the roads when they do something stupid. i love high beams.
